Walls – Your walls can be for more than just that awesome movie
poster you found in the bookstore. Just because you can’t nail anything or use tape
on the walls doesn’t mean that you can’t have hooks. 3M makes hooks in all shapes
and sizes that can hold up to 5 lbs and remove without taking the paint off the
wall. That will save you many hours of painstakingly repairing the wall with chewing
gum and white-out when it comes time to move out. Trust me, things like hats, purses,
robes, coats and your fraternity paddle all look better off the floor.
Bath – You share the bathroom with questionable folks. Don’t let
those folks share their questionable germs with you. Hang your towels on the inside
of your dorm room door using an over-the-door hook. Also, look in the travel aisle
of your favorite shop for things like travel soap-dishes and toothbrush covers as
you are traveling to the bathroom everyday (hopefully several times a day).
Organization is all about the worth of your time. There are only so many hours in
the day and it is my wish for you this year that you get to relax during more of
them. Organization is not about being perfect or obsessive. Organization is about
enjoying your life because you have been proactive. Knowing that everything is organized
saves you time and removes a lot of stress from your life. Instead of wasting so
much time worrying about and looking for a lost item, you can have more time to
sleep in, socialize with your friends, go to parties and, of course, study.
