Frequently Asked Questions for University of Utah

Yes! ISO insurance plans are designed to meet U of Utah's waiver criteria for international students. After enrolling in an ISO plan, you can submit a waiver to opt out of your school's default health insurance plan

ISO plans cover expenses related to treatment for injuries/sicknesses – including doctor visits, urgent care, hospitalization, and prescription drugs, with the ISO Share/Care/Care Elite plan also offering enhanced benefits for preventive services.

ISO plans include access to the Aetna PPO network, giving you a wide range of providers to choose from in the SLC area. You can visit the University of Utah Hospital, Intermountain Health LDS Hospital, and Midtown Clinic - all considered in-network with ISO.

ISO’s plans are tailored for international students only, offering the essential coverage required by the University of Utah at most affordable rates. While U of Utah's student plan costs over $2,700 annually, enrolling with ISO can save you up to $1,700 annually.

After purchasing your ISO plan, log into your ISO account and downloading your ID card and Certificate of Coverage. Then visit your university’s student health insurance waiver portal, complete the online waiver form, and submit your ISO plan documents. Once submitted, your school will notify you by email if your waiver is approved and the student health insurance charge will be removed from your account.

After you purchase, you will automatically have access to your insurance ID card, confirmation letter, and payment receipt. This will be emailed to you and will also be available for download through your ISO account.
