Yes! ISO insurance plans are pre-approved by Virginia Tech and meet the university's waiver criteria for international students. After enrolling in an ISO plan, you can submit a waiver to opt out of Virginia Tech's default health insurance plan.
Yes! In the very unlikely event your waiver is denied due to plan benefits, we’ll work with you to try and get it approved. If we can’t help resolve it, you’ll get a full refund—just make sure to reach out within 30 days of your plan’s start date.
Virginia Tech requires health insurance coverage from the first day of classes through the end of your graduation month. ISO plans offer flexible enrollment options, ranging from 5 to 12 months. Be sure to purchase your plan and submit your waiver request by the school’s deadline.
After purchasing your ISO plan, visit the Virginia Tech Student Medical Insurance website and click on "Request a Waiver." Log in with your VT credentials, complete the waiver form, and upload your ISO insurance documents.
